This story was made with a little girl while I was looking after her. She asked me, “How do you make a book?” So we made one together. We sat and talked about the pictures and the story. I wrote down her ideas, and she drew the pictures. While we did this, her brother caught a butterfly outside. I said, “Maybe your character can catch a butterfly too.” She said, “Yes!” and put it in the story.
This book shows that stories can come from talking, drawing, and sharing ideas. It shows that children’s thoughts are amazing. Their dreams are bright. Their stories are special. I hope this book helps children feel brave to tell their own stories and make something wonderful.
